PATULLO BRIDGE HISTORY

Opened on November 15, 1937 by Premier ‘Duff’ Pattullo, the $4-million, 25 cent Pattullo Bridge toll bridge was built as a vital crossing connecting New Westminster and Surrey. Designed for 5,000 daily cars, it became a crucial and aging, four-lane, bottleneck handling 80,000 daily vehicle crossings before its scheduled replacement this year.
